Live Webcast: Zimmer Gender Solutions High-Flex Knee Replacement

On Thursday, November 16, at 6:00 p.m. (MT), LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT will broadcast a live Zimmer MIS Total Knee replacement procedure featuring the Zimmer Gender Solutions High-Flex Knee, the first knee replacement shaped to fit a woman's anatomy.
Knee replacements have long been available in many sizes, but merely using a different size for women doesn't resolve anatomical differences and shape considerations. Various studies show that women's knees significantly differ in shape from men's knees; women are not just little men. Pioneering research conducted for Zimmer precisely maps out those differences and is the foundation for the design and development of the Gender Solutions Knee.
When placing traditional implants, some surgeons accommodate women's differences by removing more bone or repositioning the implant during surgery, but their ability to make the implant precisely conform to the patient is limited. The Gender Solutions High-Flex Implant was designed so the surgeon can more closely match the female patient's knee anatomy.
Kim C Bertin, M.D., Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Utah Bone and Joint Center, Salt Lake City, Utah, will perform the surgery. The webcast will be moderated by Aaron A. Hofmann, M.D., Professor of Orthopedics, University of Utah School of Medicine and Orthopedic Section Chief, Veterans Administration Medical Center, Salt Lake City, Utah.
